Huawei mate XS has a falcon-wing type design with a camera cased in the sidebar of the phone, whereas two central panel holds the battery. The body of Mate XS is made up of hard-plastic which means that can be easily prone to fingerprint marks and scratches as well.
Unlike other foldable smartphones, the MateXS hinge is made up of zirconium which is more durable and stronger than titanium alloy. Also, it can be easily and smoothly folded and unfolded. When the phone is fully opened it looks streamlined and no major screen distortion is seen at the hinge.

Huawei Mate XS is inbuilt with an OLED display that gives accurate and sharp colors. The phone automatically gets light up whichever side of the smartphone is up. It would have been great if a little more improvement could be made as the phone can only reach a maximum brightness level of 448 nits whereas the Samsung galaxy s21 ultra brightness can go upto ~1500 nits
Thanks to a protective layer of Optical polyimide added on the top of the screen that gives upto 80% more strength to the display. The display is also prone to scratch, so it would be better if the user handle it with care.

The cameras of Huawei Mate XS is quite similar to P30 Pro but with different image processing ratio. Mate XS has 40MP main camera along with 8MP telephoto camera and 16MP ultrawide camera with a 3D depth sensor. Users can click photos both in folded and unfolded positions of the phone.
The daylight photos are really defined and share along with a wide dynamic range but there is little inconsistency noticed in white balance. Thanks to the AI-powered camera enhancement feature that enables us to click good photos during the night time with balanced shadows highlighted with great color retention.
Whereas, for taking selfies you have to just move the camera directly towards yourself by folding it. The phone records video at a max of 4K@60fps with no option to disable EIS.
