Huawei has officially launched the world’s first foldable smartphone, the P50 Pocket, which is priced at CNY 8,988. The device will be available in China on December 23 for the same price.
It has a 6.9-inch OLED display, a circular secondary cover screen, triple rear cameras, and supports 40W fast charging. It will be made of aluminum and features a fingerprint sensor on the side.
The Huawei P50 Pocket has a dual display setup, so it can fold into two halves. When folded, the device’s screen will be 6.9 inches with a resolution of 2790 x 1188 pixels.
It supports 120 Hz refresh rate and 300 Hz touch sampling rate. The device also has a hole-punched cutout for the selfie camera. It has a gold leaf-like finish on the right side.

The device comes with a 10.7MP single selfie camera, which is a 13MP ultra-wide-angle lens, while the dual-camera setup includes a 40MP True Chroma sensor and a 32MP Ultra Spectrum lens.
The back of the Huawei P50 Pocket has a fingerprint scanner on the side, and it supports face unlock with a photo from the primary camera. It runs Huawei’s own Harmony OS, which doesn’t support Android OS or Google Play services.
The Huawei P50 Pocket is also more elegant than Samsung’s Galaxy Flip 3. The phone features a gold Premium Edition designed by Iris Van Herpen, and features gleaming gold patterns on its surface.

The Chinese market is one of the most expensive in the world, but it is likely to be worth the wait if the handset is sold here. However, it may not reach U.S. shores.
