Sony A7S III is the third camera of the A7 series, the series is mostly video-focussed along with full-frame cameras. It has been recently launched in India for Rs 3,34,990. It has got a more extended processor with a more extended price too. The camera can shoot 4K videos with 120fps for a longer time and with good details. The 12MP camera sensor has not changed yet but the camera does have a different and improved sensors as compare to its predecessor.
SENSORS, CAMERA, AND PROCESSOR
As compares to its predecessor, the new sony a7s iii is powered by a new Bionz XR image processor which does handle image and file processing separately to reduce image latency and increasing the processing speed by upto 8 times. The sensors are more depth focussed along with phase detection as it is inbuilt with Sony Autofocus System which can automatically detect faces, eyes. The camera has also got a dedicated external white balance sensor to maintain the unpredictable white balance shift and overall improving the video quality.
Sony a7s III camera processes data at the rate of 16-bit from its sensors which fully exposes the tonal range but for stills shooting there is no 16-bit support yet. It captures images with 10 bit compression limit using HEIF and using less storage moreover gives out excellent detailed photos. The camera has got four audio channels to record clean and clear sound quality.
Sony a7s iii looks like most of the other mirrorless cameras but due to high-end focussed video recording ability of the camera makes it more identical to Panasonic Lumix DC-S1H. It has got a fully articulating rear LCD display which is a touch sensitive. The camera support 4th Gen ergonomics design with more comfortable and large holding grip. It is the first Sony mirrorless camera that comes with the support of Steady Shots Active Mode to take videos with moving cameras.
The camera offers a full-size durable HDMI connector. Also, the redesigned menu system is very easy to navigate with lots of improvement than the previous cameras. The camera inbuilt with 759 points of face detection sensors comprising 92% of the total sensors present allowing to take a well-managed video quality. Sony claims that the a7s iii has got 9.44-million dot OLED electronic viewfinder which is the brightness and largest in any camera.
Sony has additionally launched CF express Type-A memory cards for cameras which offer 80GB and 160GB at the price of Rs 21,100 and Rs 40,990 respectively. The ISO range has also been improved quite a bit on this third series a7 camera which is now going from 40 to 409,600. It can record videos in 4k@120 fps with 10-bit 4:2:2 color depth.
