Philadelphia Eagles rookie wide-receiver Devon Allen won Sunday's 110-meter hurdles race at the USATF NYC Grand Prix.

He was only four-hundredths off the world record (12.80), which Aries Merritt set in 2012 in Brussels, Belgium at a League.

After the race, Allen said to reporters that he thought he could break the record. He finished with 12.84 seconds.

Silver medalist at the Tokyo Olympics 110-meter hurdles, Grant Holloway finished second to Allen with a time 13.06.

Holloway is the fastest ever with 12.81. He ran it in a semifinal heat of the Olympic track and fields trials last year.

Allen, a 27-year-old former Oregon wideout signed a three year contract with the Eagles in March.
