The Portland Trail Blazers signed guard Gary Payton II to a three-year contract.
However, the guard will miss the start of the regular season as he recovers from abdominal surgery.
The procedure is aimed at treating a core muscle injury and Payton will be out for two weeks.
The Six-foot-3 forward averaged 7.1 points and 3.5 rebounds per game.
He appeared in 71 games and started 16 of them.
Unfortunately, he will miss the start of the regular season, so the team has not determined when he can return.
He will undergo a medical evaluation in two weeks and his status will be updated.
Payton underwent surgery in July to address his core muscle injury also.
