An ultra-rare Mercedes-Benz race automotive offered for $143 million, making it the costliest automotive ever offered.

RM Sotheby’s auctioned off a 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coupe for 135 million euros, or about $143 million.

The sale smashed the earlier file for the most costly automotive bought at public sale by greater than $95 million.

The profitable bid was made by British automotive collector, advisor & seller Simon Kidston on behalf of unnamed shopper.

Kidston lobbied the Mercedes-Benz board for 18 months to think about promoting the automotive Mercedes Benz 300 SLR 1955 model.

Sale held on May 5 in a secretive & extremely uncommon public sale in Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart, Germany.

Solely chosen collectors and Mercedes-Benz prospects had been invited to attend this sale which is also been cut off from normal public.
