Rumors are flying around that the next Xiaomi MIX Fold smartphone will use Samsung’s UTG Foldable OLED Panel. The new phone will have a 7.1-inch OLED display that folds inwards.
It is expected to launch later this year, and it will use the same Samsung-designed screen. The company is also working on a second generation, but it will only be a minor upgrade from its predecessor.
Several Chinese companies have expressed interest in folding phones, but the technology is still in its infancy. The original Mi Mix fold used a panel made by CSOT, and it was only available on the internal display.
However, the new model will feature a high refresh rate on both its internal and external displays. In addition, the MIX will also have double the charging speed of the previous model.

Although Samsung is working on a UTG-based screen, it is not ready to launch its own device with it. In fact, a lot of Chinese brands are planning to launch products with UTG-based screens during the second half of this year.
Vivo will reportedly rely on Samsung and BOE for the addition of an 8.01-inch internal screen and a 6.5-inch external panel.
Chinese brands are collaborating with Samsung Display to develop foldable phones. The OPPO Find N uses a 5.45-inch OLED panel made by Beijing Oriental Electronics.
Both the OPPO Find N and the Mi MIX Fold use the polyimide film. It is expected that the Mi Mix X2 will use UTG for its external screen and will use BOE for its 6.5-inch screen.

The MiX Flip uses a TCL CSOT 6.5-inch OLED panel for the front display, but the company does not yet have a release date for the device.
The MiX Fold, which is currently in the pre-production stage, will use Samsung UTG’s UTG OLED panel. This will likely be the second foldable OLED panel used by the Chinese manufacturer.
The MiX X is expected to use the Samsung UTG foldable OLED panel that was made by BOE. The company is already collaborating with Samsung Display and CSOT to produce the 8.01-inch UTG internal screen. The OPPO Mi X uses a 6.5-inch AMOLED screen and a Huawei display. The latter uses LG’s IPS+.
The MIX X uses the same Samsung UTG OLED panel as the OPPO Find N. Both the Xiaomi X5 uses a LG-developed 5.5-inch Samsung UTG OLED panel, while the OPPO X2 uses LG’s Samsung UTG OLED panels.

The LG-developed foldable OLED panel is a good choice for the front screen, but the company will choose the best suited technology for its specific model.
The Samsung UTG panel is made of ultra-thin glass and is able to withstand a 120Hz display.
The UTG panel is used in smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy Fold, as it is designed to withstand high-frequency signals. Using the UTG panel, a smartphone can last for a long time. Further, the UTG panel can be folded.

The Mi Mix X would use a Samsung UTG screen that’s 8.03 inches in size. The display’s thickness is just 0.6mm, which is much thinner than an average smartphone.
While the MiX Fold will not be as thin as the Galaxy Z, it is expected to be a very attractive product. Its price is also appealing, with the dual-SIM design being a great combination of price and quality.
The MIX F-Fold will use Samsung’s UTG OLED panel, making it one of the first foldable smartphones to use the technology.
The MiX X is a hybrid phone, and it features a flexible screen that measures more than eight inches. It will be a premium phone, but it’s also an affordable one. Its price will be lower than other folding devices.
