IPL 2022 has just been announced and the IPL auction is underway. It is expected to be a big one, and there are a number of top players missing from this year’s auction.
Ben Stokes, Chris Gayle, Mitchell Starc, Jhye Richardson, Kyle Jamieson, Joe Root, and Chris Woakes are among those who are not available for the auction. While none of the players are publicly disclosing the reasons for their absence, there are plenty of other names that could be drafted to replace them.
The marquee set is set to open the auction. The full round of capped players will follow, with each team being able to pick any three players from the Mega auction pool. Those capped players will be grouped into batsmen, allrounders, wicketkeeper-batters, and fast bowlers.
The teams will then rotate the remaining sets in order to select the best players in their respective positions. The Associate team will have seven players, and the other two will pick up one or two players from the Mega pool.
There will be a total of six teams at the IPL 2022 Auction, with 18 players on each team’s wish list. The auction will feature up to six hundred and sixty players, with a minimum expenditure of Rs 67.5 crore per franchise.
The two oldest franchises, the Mumbai Indians and the Punjab Kings, are expected to make the largest purchases. Several other teams have bought a few players to add to their squads.
