Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Chipset at its recent Qualcomm Tech Summit in Hawaii. This new chip supports the latest 4nm manufacturing process and will be used in smartphones. It also features the first 10 Gigabit 5G modem and supports TD-SCDMA, WCDMA, and a variety of other modes. 

The Qualcomm Gen 1 is the first chip in the world to support 5G NR and CBRS. The chip’s new radio enhancements allow it to take panoramic shots up to 140 degrees. This feature helps eliminate typical edge distortion.

The 7th Gen AI Engine is another important addition to the new chipset. It doubles the shared memory of a smartphone, doubling its performance as a tensor accelerator.
